OneFS Web Administration Guide
The
OneFS
Web Administration Guide describes how to activate licenses, configure network interfaces, manage the file system, provision block storage, run system jobs, protect data, back up the cluster, set up storage pools, establish quotas, secure access, migrate data, integrate with other applications, and monitor
PowerScale
clusters.
About this guide
This guide describes how the
PowerScale
OneFS
web administration interface provides access to cluster configuration, management, and monitoring functionality. For information about
APEX File Storage Services
, see the

Administration Guide.
Scale-out NAS overview
The scale-out NAS storage platform combines modular hardware with unified software to harness unstructured data. The
OneFS
operating system powers the platform to deliver a scalable pool of storage with a global namespace.
Where to get help
PowerScale scale-out NAS
PowerScale
OneFS combines the three layers of storage architecture—file system, volume manager, and data protection—into a scale-out NAS cluster.
General cluster administration
Access zones
Authentication
Administrative roles and privileges
Role-based access
You can assign role-based access to delegate administrative tasks to selected users.
Roles
You can permit and limit access to administrative areas of your cluster on a per-user basis through roles.
OneFS
includes several integrated administrator roles with predefined sets of privileges that cannot be modified. You can also create custom roles and assign privileges to those roles.
Privileges
Privileges permit users to complete tasks on a cluster.
Managing roles
You can view, add, or remove members of any role. Except for integrated roles, whose privileges you cannot modify, you can add or remove
OneFS
privileges on a role-by-role basis. You can copy and delete roles.
TLS certificate data example
TLS certificate renewal or replacement requires you to provide data such as a fully qualified domain name and a contact email address.
Identity management
Home directories
When you create a local user, OneFS automatically creates a home directory for the user.
Data access control
OneFS supports two types of permissions data on files and directories that control who has access: Windows-style access control lists (ACLs) and POSIX mode bits (UNIX permissions).
File sharing
You can access files and directories using SMB for Windows file sharing, NFS for Unix file sharing, secure shell (SSH), FTP, and HTTP.
File filtering
File filtering enables you to allow or deny file writes based on file type.
Auditing
Snapshots
Deduplication with SmartDedupe
Data replication with SyncIQ
Data layout with FlexProtect
